This project was a team effort to design a cooling garment in collaboration with the NASA Johnson Space Center that utilizes phase change material and air-cooling systems as both simultaneous and interchangeable sources of cooling technology. The objective of this garment was to effectively regulate the wearer’s temperature. The designers had to consider thermal and tactile comfort, allowance for full user mobility, ease of donning and doffing, and the ease of which the PCM could be easily interchanged. We also were asked to create a consumer version. Above are images of our final designs and prototypes.
